Izzy was brought into the surgery as her owner had noticed that the whites of her eyes were looking yellow, she was not eating and generally was not herself. She was examined by Chichester clinic vet, Andrew Vawer, and immediately admitted for further tests and investigation.

Izzy was diagnosed with severe pancreatitis. Her inflamed pancreas had blocked her bile duct leading to obstructive liver failure, hence her yellow eyes. She was severely jaundiced, in a lot of pain and in a critical condition. She was hospitalised and had intensive nursing care for 8 days. Izzy was on intravenous fluid therapy and a multitude of medications to control her pain and her conditions.

Everyone was very concerned that she was not going to make it through the illness, however, her owner came to visit and spend time with her everyday and really helped to boost her morale and fight her battle. Amazingly, Izzy is now at home, continuing medication, gaining weight and currently stable. Izzy was loved by all the staff and her resilience and bravery touched us all.
