Surgery for Cataract Removal.

Preparing for a cataract operation using phacoemulsification takes almost an hour. The main unit is the electronic box to the left of the picture. This controls the ultrasound and the flushing fluids which remove the emulsified cataract from the operation site.

The whole operation area is covered in sterile drapes.

The operating Microscope is vital to see the minute detail necessary for such a sensitive operation.

Anaesthetic nurse, Carly Horsfall VN keeps a continual check on the state of the patient's anaesthesia, here monitoring the pulse inside this dachshund bitch's thigh and comparing it with the monitoring equipment on her anaesthetic machine.
Yes, everybody wonders what she's doing :-)
