Surgery with the Operating Microscope. The microscope head gives stereoscopic 3D magnified images of the operation site. The zoom, position and focus are all controlled by a foot operated joysick and button panel to allow the hands free to perform the operation.
To prevent distractions and glare from the surrounding lights, ophthalmologists use the concentrated focused light from the microscope head alone to illuminate the operation site. This is a total contrast to more conventional surgery where the overall light intensity is generally high.
